El Olivar
“El Olivar” is a park made of the remains of a former olive farm. In the center of San Isidro district in Lima this park with its fountains, nice houses and walk ways in the middle of old olive trees offers you an astonishing diversity of 26 bird species being registered here. To see ten of them or more in a single one hour visit is a good average.
Did you ever think doves are boring? Then have a look at the three colorful species of wild doves that inhabit the park alongside the domesticated doves.
Or maybe you enjoy observing hummingbirds collecting honey from the parks flowers or listen to the parrots in the trees, while trying to make them out between the green leaves.
Real jewels of color in the park are the Vermilion flycatcher, the Saffron finch or the Black hooded siskin to name only a few of the smaller colorful birds you will see.
