WEATHER:
Weather in Lima: summer is December to March which is humid and hot from 19 to 30ēC, winter is June to October which is humid with cloudy skies and cold from 13 to 20ēC, the spring and fall months are pleasant with moderate temperatures and some sunny days.
Weather in Cusco: Summer is considered to be December to March, temperatures reaching 16ēC, cold at night and rainy.
Winter is May to October, with dry weather and an average temperature of 11ēC.
Machu Picchu, has a semi-tropical climate where it rains from November to April. The average temperature in the capital is 12ēC with a maximum of 18ēC and minimum of around 4ēC.
Weather in Puno:
From December to March temperatures reach 12ēC with a dry climate which is extremely cold with rains. From May to October it is winter, in the day it reaches 6ēC and in the nights 10ēC.
Weather in Trujillo: Pleasant and sunny climate all year round. Summer is December to March reaches 28ēC, in winter of may to October it does not rain but is foggy and the temperatures descend to 14ēC at night.
Weather in Chiclayo: In the summer from December to March it reaches 28ēC and there are light rains. In winter from May to October the climate is hot, with an average temperature of 24ēC.
Weather in Cajamarca: Summer is November to March, rains with an average temperature of 12ēC; in winter from May to October the climate is warm, dry and sunny with an average temperature of 14ēC.
GASTRONOMY:
In Lima, the capital of Peru, one can find international, local and vegetarian foods, as well as international franchise fast food restaurants.
In the city of Cusco, to enjoy the local food it is recommended to go to traditional locations such as picaterías and cicherías. One can also find international and vegetarian foods.
In Puno, restaurants serving local foods.
In Trujillo, food typical of the region such as shambar soup, seco de cabrito con frijoles (goat with beans), etc. International foods are also available.
In Chiclayo, their plates are generally seafood based, such as the famous cebiche (fish cooked in lemon juice), tortilla de raya (sting ray omlette), chinguirito (fish salad), the famous arroz con pato (rice with duck), as well as international dishes.
In Cajamarca, typical dishes such as chicharron colorado (fried pork), choclo con queso (corn with cheese), chupe de papa seca (beef and potato cream soup), and chupe verde (potato and herb cream soup).
WATER:
The water is potable in all of Peru, but the chemicals vary everywhere. Because of this, drinking bottled water is recommended.
