- Avoid strenuous exercise, heavy foods, and long walks before acclimatizing.
- Medicine for altitude sickness, as well as stomach problems, after consulting your doctor.
ALTITUDE:
While hiking the Inca Trail, there are many changes in altitude, climbing on foot up to 4,200m and descending to 2,400m.
WEATHER:
From November to April it frequently rains. The weather is subtropical: hot and humid during the day and cold at night.
GASTRONOMY:
In the city of Cusco, to enjoy the local food it is recommended to go to traditional locations such as picaterías and cicherías. One can also find international and vegetarian foods.
WATER:
The water is potable in all of Peru, but the chemicals vary everywhere. Because of this, drinking bottled water is recommended.
