CORDILLERA BLANCA TREK

DAY 01: HUARAZ - CASHAPAMPA - CAPILLACHUAYTA
Travelling by bus along the Callejon de Huaylas valley and passing the towns of Ranrahirca, Yungay (which was tragically destroyed in the seventies by a huge avalanche), and then onto the town of Caraz. After the paved road we turn head to north-east on a dirt-road to the vicinity of Cashapampa (2,900mts) where we meet our muleteers and donkeys to start our walk. We take the route that leads us through the Santa Cruz gorge until we arrive to our first camp at Capillachayta by the Santa Cruz River (L;D).

DAY 02 : CAPILLACHUAYTA - TAULLIPAMPA
Starts with a hike through the Arhuaycocha valley, taking us to the Santa Cruz river which we will follow as it runs into first Ichiccocha Lake then Jatuncocha Lake where time can be taken to do a spot of fishing. Afterwards we cross the Arhuaycocha valley where we can either take a rest or for the most adventurous ones it is possible to climb up through a zigzag route to the Alpamayo base camp and observe the views of the Quitaraju (6,036mts), the beautiful Alpamayo (5,947mts) and Pucahirca (20,100ft. /6030 m), then we continue short way to our second camp at Taullipampa (12,667ft. /3,800m . DAY 03 : TAULLIPAMPA - PARIA
Today we make the ascent to Punta Union pass (15,833ft. /4,750 m), close to Mount Taulliraju, which affords fantastic views of the valley below. Here the snow capped peaks of Santa Cruz (20,863ft. /6259 m), Quitaraju (20,120ft. /6036 m), Pucahirca (20,100ft. /6030 m) and Artesonraju (20083ft./6025 m) can be clearly seen. Then enter a steep descent through the Huaripampa valley will be made to the third camp at Paria (13,000ft. /3,900 m). (B;L;D)

DAY 04 : PARIA - VAQUERIA - PAMPAMACHAY
Now the hike begins our hike with outstanding views of runs between Mount Chacraraju (20,373ft. / 6112 m) and Mount Taulliraju (19,433ft. / 5830 m), with spectacular views of the surrounding snow capped peaks. Then the route continue heading towards the village of Colcabamba crossing a small mountain range until we arrive at the forth camp at Vaqueria-Pampamachay. (12,667ft. /3,800 m) (B;L;D)

DAY 05: PAMPAMACHAY - HUARAZ
Today we return to Huaraz driving across the Portachuelo de Llanganuco pass (15,890ft. / 4,767 m), a zig-zag road where we will reach Llanganuco gorge (12,833ft. / 3,850m). This is a truly beautiful spot, with Mount Huascaran (at 22,560ft. / 6,768 m. - Peru's highest mountain) and the multiple peaks of Mount Huandoy (21,317ft. / 6395m) towering above the twin lakes of Llanganuco, short visit and continue driving back to Huaraz.
