SALCANTAY - MACHUPICCHU
(7 Days / 6 Nights)

DAY 01: CUZCO - MOLLEPATA
Transfer from Cuzco to Mollepata. Upon arrival in the early afternoon, we will walk up hill. After about 3 hours walking we will set up our camp in pastures close to an irrigation canal.

DAY 02: SORAY
Today we will hike to the village of Soray. After about 5 hours trekking we will arrive at this small village. We continue hiking one more hour to camp in the upper valley.

DAY 03: PAMPACHUANA
It is a 4 hours trek to the Incachiriaska Pass, which lies at 4880 m. The trail continues east down through a long broad valley to Pampachuana, a small village. We will camp close the village.

DAY 04: WAYLLABAMBA
From Pampachuana it is a 3 hours hike down the narrow, steep valley to the Inca fortress of Inkaracay. It takes about 30 minutes to walk down to the small village of Wayllabamba, where you join the Royal Inca Trail to Machu Picchu.

DAY 05: PACAYMAYU
We start trekking early in the morning. The trail from Wayllabamba to the first pass of Warmiwañusca takes about 5 ½ hours. Lunch is provides 10 minutes after the pass. It is another 1 ½ hour walk to our camp at Pacaymayu (3600), near to Runkuraqay.

DAY 06: WIÑAYWAYNA
Today we will hike approximately 7 hours to the ruins of Wiñaywayna (2600 m) passing the smaller ruins of Sayacmarca and Phuyupatamarca on the way. At Wiñaywayna we will set up camp and have dinner.

DAY 07: MACHU PICCHU - CUZCO
Early in the morning, back on the trek to Machu Picchu to arrive to Inti Punku (the sun gate) just prior to sunrise. Upon arrival we will have a guided tour of the ruins for about 2 hours followed by some free time. Bus down to Aguas Calientes and return by train to Cuzco. Arrival and transfer to your hotel.
